Catalyst scholarships
Catalyst scholarships are designed for individuals taking a clear and committed step into the creative arts. They provide both financial assistance and professional encouragement to applicants who demonstrate strong motivation and creative potential in their chosen discipline.
What our scholarships offer:
- €2,000 tuition fee reduction per academic year
(totalling €6,000 over the full duration of a 3-year BA programme) - A €2,000 total tuition fee reduction for MA programmes
Please note: Scholarships are limited and assessed on a rolling basis. We strongly recommend applying early, as awards are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarships are not compatible with Early Enrolment Bonus but can be applied to Standard and Extended Payment plans.
For additional support options, including public and international funding, please visit our guide to funding your studies.
Financial support
The scholarship amount is applied directly to your tuition fees, reducing either:
- your total annual tuition (if paying upfront), or
- your monthly or semester instalments (including extended payment plans).
Please note: the €895 enrolment fee is not covered by the scholarship. It must be paid in full and on time to confirm your place.
A full breakdown of tuition fees with the scholarship applied can be found in your chosen programme’s course guide, available on the programme page.
Application process
Scholarships are available only after you’ve completed your main programme application.
During your application, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to be considered for a scholarship. If you select yes, you’ll receive a separate scholarship application form.
Once submitted, your scholarship application will be reviewed by the admissions team. You’ll be notified directly if you’re selected as a successful recipient.
Conditions of acceptance
All scholarship recipients are required to take part in Catalyst’s Storytelling, Events & Community activities as a condition of accepting the bursary.
The time commitment for the general scholarships is approximately 16 hours per month and will be agreed with each recipient individually at the start of the academic year, ensuring the format and frequency align with your preferences and comfort level.
We look forward to supporting your journey and celebrating your growth along the way.

How to apply
Everything you need to know about our application process and deadlines
FAQ – What you need to know
How do I apply for a Catalyst scholarship?
Scholarships are available only after you’ve completed your main programme application.
During your application, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to be considered for a scholarship. If you select yes, you’ll receive a separate scholarship application form.
Once submitted, your scholarship application will be reviewed by the admissions team. You’ll be notified directly if you’re selected as a successful recipient.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
Ideally not – you should apply to one course only, and as part of that application, you may apply for one scholarship. We encourage you to choose the option most aligned with your background, motivation and future plans.
How does the scholarship affect my tuition fees?
If you’re awarded a scholarship:
- BA students will receive a €2,000 tuition fee reduction per academic year, applied automatically for up to three years – totalling €6,000 over the full duration of the programme.
- MA students will receive a €2,000 tuition fee reduction applied to their one-year programme.
This reduction will be reflected in your chosen payment plan – whether you’re paying in full upfront or in monthly or semester-based instalments.
What happens to the enrolment fee?
The €895 enrolment fee is separate and not affected by the scholarship. It must be paid in full and on time, even if a scholarship is awarded.
How will the payments work if I’m on an instalment plan?
If you choose to pay in instalments, your monthly payments will be reduced based on the scholarship amount. The €2,000/year is divided across your 12 instalments.
What’s expected of me if I accept a scholarship?
All scholarship recipients are required to actively contribute to the Catalyst community by supporting storytelling, events, and community engagement activities throughout the academic year.
This includes a commitment of approximately 16 hours per month, which may involve:
- Participating in Catalyst events or open days
- Supporting our on-campus radio, content, or documentation teams
- Sharing your learning journey through written or video testimonials
- Contributing to social media content, blog features, or interviews
- Collaborating on community-building or promotional initiatives
After receiving a scholarship offer, you’ll be sent a short form to indicate your skills, preferences, and areas of interest. We’ll aim to align your involvement with your strengths and passions, but please note that Catalyst reserves the right to assign you to specific tasks or teams based on organisational needs.
This is a unique opportunity to develop professional skills, connect with the wider community, and play an active role in shaping the student experience for future creatives.
Do I have to participate in Storytelling, Events & Community activities if I receive a scholarship?
Yes. Participation is a required condition of all Catalyst scholarships.
All recipients are expected to contribute approximately 16 hours per month to activities that support Catalyst’s storytelling, events, or wider community engagement. This may include:
- Participating in events or open days
- Sharing your student experience through testimonials, interviews, or creative documentation
- Supporting content creation for Catalyst’s platforms
- Assisting with Catalyst Radio or other community initiatives
You’ll be asked to complete a short form indicating your skills and interests. While we aim to assign you to a team that aligns with your strengths, final placement is based on Catalyst’s needs, and flexibility is expected.
Engagement is reviewed at the end of each academic year. Scholarships may be revoked if commitment or attendance is incomplete.
Are 1-year programmes eligible for the scholarships
Only the Master's programmes (full-time and part-time) and the 3-year Bachelor's programmes are eligible for the Scholarships. The 1-year HE Certificate programmes are not eligible for any scholarships nor BAFÖG. However, all degree programmes may benefit from our Early Enrolment Bonus when applying by the priority deadline. Please visit our Course Fee page for additional details.
Will I need to reapply each year to keep the scholarship?
No – the scholarship is awarded for the full duration of your programme, as long as you remain in good academic and financial standing.
Who do I contact if I have more questions?
Please reach out to the Catalyst Admissions Team at admissions@catalyst-berlin.com. They’ll be happy to help guide you through the application and scholarship process.
I’ve already submitted my course application – can I still apply for a scholarship?
Unfortunately, no. Catalyst scholarships must be applied for at the time of your initial course application, as the scholarship form is built into the main application process. If you’ve already submitted your application without selecting a scholarship, it’s not possible to apply retroactively.
If you’re still early in your application journey, feel free to contact our Admissions Team to discuss your options: admissions@catalyst-berlin.com
